About Layers
Layers is building the infrastructure layer for the global circular fashion supply chain, connecting secondhand clothing graders and raghouses in Pakistan to buyers worldwide through standardised supply, QC, processing and consolidated logistics. Over the last two quarters we've scaled from zero to tens of thousands of units per month across international supply chains, and the transaction volumes, supplier relationships and customer accounts keep growing. This role builds the financial planning, controls, reporting and cash-flow discipline that lets us do it without breaking anything.
The Role
Layers is looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Finance Manager to build and manage the financial infrastructure required to support its next stage of growth. You'll own the day-to-day finance function while developing the systems, processes and reporting a rapidly scaling international business needs.
This is not a purely accounting-focused role. You'll work directly with the Founder and the Supply, Sales, Operations and external accounting teams to improve financial visibility, protect cash, maintain control and drive better commercial decisions. You won't just record what already happened, you'll flag what's coming next and help management act on it.
This role is suited to someone who wants to build a finance function rather than inherit a finished one, comfortable moving between detailed transaction reviews and higher-level planning, and willing to challenge weak controls and commercially unsound decisions.
What you'll do
Plan Cash and Forecast the Future
- Build and maintain short-, medium- and long-term forecasts covering revenue, gross profit, opex and cash flow.
- Run a rolling weekly cash-flow forecast with clear visibility over balances, receipts and upcoming payments.
- Model scenarios for growth, hiring, pricing, margin and working-capital needs, and flag funding gaps early.
- Compare actuals against forecast and explain material variances.
Own Receivables, Payables and Controls
- Maintain accurate customer and supplier records, ageing reports and payment schedules.
- Coordinate with Sales to collect overdue balances and with Supply and Operations to verify fulfilment before paying suppliers.
- Design financial policies, approval thresholds and audit trails that separate requesting, approving and paying.
- Protect the company against fraud, financial leakage and avoidable errors as volumes grow.
Report and Analyse Commercially
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and consistent weekly reporting on revenue, COGS, margin, opex, cash and working capital.
- Build dashboards and profitability reporting by customer, supplier, order, category and channel.
- Analyse margin leakage, validate gross profit before commissions are approved, and support pricing decisions.
- Explain performance to management rather than just presenting numbers.
Build Systems and Partner Across the Business
- Assess and implement accounting, payment, reporting and expense-management systems, reducing reliance on manual spreadsheets.
- Run reconciliations, month-end close and record accuracy across banks, platforms, customers and suppliers.
- Manage banking, domestic and international payments, FX costs and payment provider relationships.
- Act as primary internal contact for external accountants, auditors and tax advisers, and coordinate payroll and commission oversight.
What we're looking for
- 4-7 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, commercial finance or financial operations, ideally building processes within a growing business.
- Strong command of financial statements, cash flow, budgeting, management reporting, and accounts receivable, payable and reconciliations.
- Advanced spreadsheet and financial-modelling skills, with the ability to analyse transactions and identify true profitability.
- Obsessive attention to detail, strong judgement, integrity and confidentiality, plus the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Confident communicator, comfortable working directly with founders, department heads and external advisers, with professional English proficiency.
- Experience in international trade, supply chain, wholesale, textiles, logistics, e-commerce or a transaction-heavy startup is a strong plus; CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory with strong relevant experience.
What you'll get
- Competitive compensation and bonus
- Health insurance
- A fun startup culture
- Sleek vintage stock to transform your wardrobe
- Full ownership to build the finance function from the ground up, not inherit a finished one
- Direct access to the Founder and a seat at the table on real commercial decisions
- The chance to lay the foundation for a larger finance team as Layers scales
